Christian daily prayers are repeated on a cycle of four weeks for daily prayers (Lauds, Terce, Sext, None, Vespers, and Compline) and two years for Daily Mass Readings (three years for Sunday Masses). The four week cycle reads heavily from the 150 Psalms as well as key short readings from the New (Christian) and Old (Jewish) books. There are other variations through the year based on the church season and the week of the year. The Mass readings include a reading from New or Old books that covers the key biblical texts, a Psalm, and a reading from the Gospel books covering the entire preaching of Jesus through the cycle. The Office of Readings additionally includes texts written by "Church Fathers" during the early Christian period.
